From May 19–21, 2025, the Surveying Instruments Division conducted a training session on the use of the Trimble R980 GNSS receiver for staff from the Marine Department. The training aimed to support high-precision surveying applications and included both theoretical instruction and hands-on practice within the training grounds of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand. During the practical session, the Trimble R980 was tested in both Base and Rover configurations, working in conjunction with the department’s existing GNSS equipment.

The results showed excellent compatibility between all units. A key highlight was the R980’s superior signal acquisition speed and reliability compared to previous models—thanks to its increased number of satellite tracking channels and full multi-constellation support. The receiver also features advanced technologies such as:
