From 19–21 May 2025, the Survey Instruments Division organized a training session on the use of the Trimble R980 GNSS receiver for staff of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AEROTHAI). The training aimed to support high-precision surveying and positioning work.

Company instructors delivered theoretical lectures and conducted simulated real-world operations within the AEROTHAI training area. The Trimble R980 was tested in both Base and Rover configurations and used together with the existing GNSS receivers already in service.

The test results showed that all devices worked together very well. A notable point was that the Trimble R980 demonstrated better and faster signal reception compared to previous models, due to its higher number of satellite tracking channels and support for all major satellite constellations. In addition, it features the following technologies:

✅ Trimble ProPoint™ – enhances signal tracking and reception performance
✅ Built-in IMU – allows users to tilt the survey pole while collecting data, while still maintaining positional accuracy
